Sioux Falls Lutheran School to Build Facility for Preschool through 8 th Grade in Southern Sioux Falls with Room for Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls Lutheran School will build a preschool through 8th grade facility in southern Sioux Falls. The school, with expanded childcare and adjacent athletic fields, will be at 74th Street and Tallgrass Avenue, where interstates 29 and 229 meet, on a site donated by Sanford Health.

The health care organization also gave a matching gift of up to $5 million for the project as part of the Lutheran School’s Our Greatest Gifts capital campaign. A construction timeline and groundbreaking will be announced soon.

“This is a great location for Sioux Falls Lutheran, and we are proud to support the school in its desire to serve more children and families,” said Kelby Krabbenhoft, president and CEO of Sanford Health. “We have our roots as a Lutheran hospital, and we understand the importance of giving back to the community–through investments, health care and education.”

The site, which is about 30 acres, will house the new preschool through 8th grade facility, childcare, as well as softball and soccer fields, a tennis court and a track. The site also has room for the Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls.

The matching funds will be used as an expression of thankfulness to donors for their support of the capital campaign to date and as an immediate 2-to-1 match for future donations. The $5 million match will continue for the duration of the Our Greatest Gifts campaign.

“The magnitude of this matching gift is now even further enhanced by an attractive high-profile, accessible location,” said Tia Esser, Sioux Falls Lutheran School Administrator. “The convenience it will provide for families, in addition to our ability to provide high-quality childcare and innovative educational services in a high-growth area, is truly beyond our imagination. We are deeply grateful and very excited for this opportunity to exceptionally serve the community for generations to come.”

The southern border of the city continues to grow, making it an ideal place to build a new school. In 2017, the city population grew by 2.5 percent, according to Sioux Falls city officials.

Capital Campaign Verse:
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and to Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” –Ephesians 3:20-21.
