Learn-Move-Grow: Two-Ingredient Black Bean Brownies

 

As you finish up your holiday baking this week, try replacing your traditional brownie recipe with this delicious black bean brownie recipe from Hy-Vee registered dietitian Kristin Sousek.

Black bean brownies contain approximately half the sugar, and much more nutrition, than your average brownie. If you’re skeptical of their flavor, our 3rd graders tried them during their monthly field trip to Hy-Vee last week – ask them how they taste!

Ingredients:
1 box brownie mix
1 can black beans

Directions:
1. Use a blender to puree one can of black beans. (Do NOT drain the water from the can).
2. Mix the beans into the store-bought brownie mix.
3. Bake according to box instructions.
