After months of study and preparation, Sioux Falls Lutheran School has earned the South Dakota Department of Education’s Certification of Accreditation for Kindergarten through 12th grade, with no deficiencies.

Seeking K-12 accreditation was among our top priorities after receiving voter approval to add high school grades to our campus last January. In addition to earning accreditation with no deficiencies, our school received high praise from the Director of Standards, Leadership, and Learning regarding the high quality lesson plans and depth of knowledge evidence that were submitted by our teachers.

The state also looked at many other areas to include student records storage, evidence of sound background check policies and procedures, student immunizations, bullying policies, physical restraint policies, personal learning plans, our high school course catalog, teacher certification verification, and documentation of emergency drills for which we also received high marks.

Last but not least, our K-12 teachers shared their shared vision for how we best support our students’ learning going forward. The goals they suggested in math, writing, and Christ-centered character education were well received by the Department of Education and will now serve as our professional development focus for the next five years.

We praise and thank God for putting together a great team of teachers and support staff who are devoted to serving SFLS families with high quality Christ-centered education!
