Trivia Night Raises Over $2000 for 7th Grade Leadership and Earth Science Trip to Black Hills

Thanks to all who participated in another successful Trivia Night! Over $2300 was raised to cover expenses for the 7th Grade Leadership and Earth Science Trip to the Black Hills in September.  Adding life to the party with his natural humor, Rev. Darren Olson served as emcee—reading questions, singing songs, and citing additional fascinating little known facts.

Sixth grade families provided delectable treats and the sixth grade students exercised great life skills by selling the treats throughout the evening. While working concessions, they also exhibited great multitasking abilities as they were able to participate in a few rounds of questions!

The top three teams received prizes donated by our 6th grade families. Third place went to “The Soo Foo Loo Croo,” second place to “Pulling Out All the Stops,” and first place to team “Work”—and work they did to win top prize with a final score of 87 points!

Again, our deepest thanks to trivia team participants for their support, to the 6th graders and their families for hosting, and to Mrs. Esser, Mrs. Bernard, Mrs. Olson, Rev. Olson, Mr. Deeter, Mrs. Baedke, Mr. Thuringer, and Courtney Roosendahl for sharing their time and talents!

About the 7th Grade Leadership and Earth Science Trip:
In the fall of 2016, our middle school science teacher, Miss Marli Ockander, introduced an annual 7th Grade Leadership and Earth Science Trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. As our students tent camp, prepare meals for one another, explore God’s creation and spend time in His word, they learn firsthand what it means to be a servant leader while simultaneously learning about earth science topics, specifically geology, that are unique to the state of South Dakota. Visit our blog to learn more!

Donations for our annual Leadership and Earth Science Trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota may be dropped off in the Sioux Falls Lutheran School office or directly with Miss Ockander.
