Sioux Falls Lutheran School is delighted to share that Rev. Darren Olson has accepted the call to serve as the Missionary-at-Large for Northern Lincoln County and as the Campus Pastor at Sioux Falls Lutheran School.

Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, in the Vaughn & JoAnn Meyer Chapel and Performing Arts Center or via livestream for Pastor Olson’s Installation Service. Worship folders are available for download for virtual viewers, and a reception will follow the service. We look forward to celebrating this great God-honoring and vision-fulfilling moment together!

Pastor Olson served as the part-time Campus Pastor at SFLS during the 2020-21 school year. In July, 2021, he received a call from the South Dakota District Board of Directors to continue serving in this role in a full-time capacity moving forward. As he transitions into this full-time role, Pastor Olson will continue assisting the South Dakota District, in a limited way, through January 14, 2022.

During preliminary planning for our new school building, we learned that the fields are ripe for harvest in Northern Lincoln county, where 62% of the residents don’t claim to have a church home/family. As a result, Pastor Olson will focus his missionary efforts in the portion of Lincoln county stretching from I-29 to the Iowa border and south of 69th Street. The city of Tea, which is also in Lincoln County, will not be a part of this mission effort, since Risen Savior Lutheran Church already serves the Tea community. Pastor Olson will also focus on serving Sioux Falls Lutheran School families who do not currently have a church home.

As SFLS Campus Pastor, he will continue to teach high school Theology, serve as our Theology Department Head, and offer pastoral support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students, as needed. As Pastor Olson answers the call to serve in this one-of-a-kind role within the Synod, we ask you to join us in praying that God would bless him, our community, and the families we will serve as we work together to plant a new congregation.
