Family Spotlight: The Lafrentz Family

This spotlight features Michael and Janelle Lafrentz. Michael attended Sioux Falls Lutheran School as a student. After a very positive experience, he and his wife, Janelle, now send their own children to SFLS. They will be entering 3rd grade and fantastic fives in the fall of 2023.

Why did you choose SFLS for your children?
I enjoyed my experience as a student, and I look forward to providing my children a similar positive experience.

What do you love most about SFLS?
I love the Christ-centered focus and caring atmosphere.

What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
Home.
I grew up at Sioux Falls Lutheran, and I have enjoyed watching the school grow and improve while keeping the love of Christ, caring for one another, and the best elements of a small town feel at the center of that growth.

In what ways have you seen your children grow and develop as a result of their experiences at SFLS?
As I’ve watched my children develop, I’ve observed the different types of attention they need. I have been impressed by the ways teachers at SFLS are able to meet those needs for our family. For my son, that includes help getting out of his shell. For my daughter, that involves incorporating more structure into her days.

How is SFLS preparing your child to be World Ready, Faith Secure?
SFLS helps my children by providing a Christ-centered model for living in the real world.

What would you tell other parents to encourage them to enroll their child at SFLS?
I loved my experience as a student, it’s been fantastic for my children, and it’s a tremendous way to invest in your child’s future.
