SFLS Senior Emma Stubkjaer Signs Letter of Intent to Play Volleyball at Dordt University

On Wednesday, November 9, Sioux Falls Lutheran School senior, Emma Subkjaer, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Dordt University next year.

In their second season as a Class B varsity team, the Eagles went 21-7 during the regular season. They faced Dell Rapids St. Mary in the first round of playoffs on November 1, and lost 1-3.

Stubkjaer plays year-round volleyball at the Sanford Pentagon. Prior to moving back to South Dakota in 2020, she started varsity as a freshman and sophomore in Albert Lea, MN, and played for club teams in the Mankato area.

“It has been a dream of mine to play in college since 7th grade, so having that dream come true has been a blessing,” Stubkjaer said. “I feel very blessed and grateful that I was awarded a scholarship to attend Dordt. I think that was God's way of indirectly hinting that it’s where I’m supposed to go.”

Stubkjaer is the first recruit to commit under Coach Jacki Smith, who was named the Dordt women’s volleyball head coach in March 2022.

Sioux Falls Lutheran School opened its doors to high school students in the fall of 2020. It presently serves 50 students in grades 9 through 12. The vision is to grow quickly into a high school of 200-250, and future expansion plans include a high school addition that will accommodate up to 400 students at the class B level.
