JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a passionate person to be our Robotics Team Advisor. As the Robotics Team Advisor advisor, you will work closely with parent volunteers who lead the teams during practices and competitions. The ideal candidate will embrace our Christian values, have a strong understanding of STEM and robotics, and will inspire students to grow academically and spiritually through inquiry, investigation, and experimentation.

The Robotics Team Advisor position will include after school and weekend hours as determined by practice schedules and competitions. The advisor will not need to be present at every practice but will work with parent volunteers to prepare students for the competitions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for Lutheran education and a love for students.
  • Know Jesus as Lord and Savior.
  • Experience in robotics competitions (e.g., FIRST LEGO League, VEX Robotics) preferred.
  • Understanding of robotics concepts, coding languages (e.g., Scratch, Python), and engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with parent volunteers, students, and school staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Spiritual Development: Integrate Christian values into team activities and discussions, emphasizing growing as disciples of Jesus, servant leadership, and teamwork.
  2. Safety Oversight: Ensure a safe environment for students during lessons, practices, competitions, and any related activities.
  3. Team Guidance: Educate students on robotics concepts, coding, engineering principles, and problem-solving techniques. Provide guidance and support to two robotics teams, ensuring they adhere to competition rules and guidelines. Act as the primary point of contact between the robotics teams and the school administration, communicating updates, progress, and any logistical needs or concerns.
  4. Parent Volunteer Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parent volunteers to organize practices, coordinate schedules, and manage logistics. Provide assistance as needed to help them effectively lead team practices and activities.
  5. Competition Preparation: Assist teams in strategizing, designing, building, and programming robots for competitions. Manage the process of registering teams for robotics competitions, ensuring timely submission of paperwork, fees, and required documentation.

REPORTS TO AND RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Athletic Director

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Educational Level: BA/BS Education (preferred)
  2. Experience:  2 Years of experience with youth (preferred)
  3. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  Eye-hand coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk and sit.  Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases.  Travel between locations can cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
  4. Other Requirements: Knowledge of first aid and CPR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Instruct athletes individually or in groups regarding the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.
  2. Organize and execute an effective practice.
  3. Assign duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
  4. Determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time, in conjunction with assistant coaches at the respective level.
    1. Monitor student athlete’s academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met in conjunction with the athletic director.
  5. Positively promote the athletic program within the school and community.
  6. Communicate verbally and electronically with athletes, parents/guardians, and school administration in an effective manner.
  7. Assist in the selection of assistant coaches.
  8. Work with the Athletic Director in:
    1. Scheduling practices and competitions
    2. Arranging out-of-town trips, leave times, etc.
    3. Organizing off season clinics and camps
    4. Fundraising-merchandising
  9. Ensure supervision of student athletes on the court, in training/conditioning facilities and in locker rooms during and following periods of team participation.
  10. Maintain eligibility forms, medical history forms, consent forms and other related records in conjunction with the athletic director.
  11. Care for athletes and injured athletes.
  12. Follow procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, uniforms and supplies.
  13. Keep informed on new information and techniques for designated sport and participate in respective clinics.
  14. As a community (coaches, athletes, parents, fans) in everything you do and say represent God, Sioux Falls Lutheran School, and yourself in a Christian manner.
  15. Help select representatives for a parent council each athletic season.

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to serve as part-time educational assistants in our infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms, as well as during the lunch hour in our preschool program, during the 2024-25 school year. Ideal applicants will have a natural desire to care for and interact with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Assistants will work in partnership with our experienced teachers, who are responsible for daily lesson and activity planning. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to be part of an energetic Christian team partnering with families to raise confident, capable learners
  • A love for serving young learners with joy and with sensitivity to the individual needs of each child
  • Ability and willingness to joyfully support and work with the lead teacher

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to serve as substitute teachers and educational assistants for all age and grade levels (infants through 12th grade).  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • A passion for serving learners and their families in a Christian setting
  • The ability to quickly adapt to a wide variety of situations

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to volunteer as baby rockers in our infant care program. Ideal volunteers will have a natural desire to care for and interact with infants and toddlers. Volunteers will work in partnership with our experienced teachers, who are responsible for daily activity planning. All volunteers must complete a background check and orientation training with our child care director.
