POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior High Track & Field Coach leads and develops the middle school track and field program by teaching foundational skills, promoting teamwork, and cultivating a love for track and field in a Christ-centered environment. This coach supports the overall athletic mission of Sioux Falls Lutheran School while helping young athletes grow physically, socially, and spiritually.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Level: High School Diploma (preferred: BA/BS)
Experience: Prior coaching or competitive experience (preferred)
Certifications: Knowledge of first aid and CPR; background check clearance required
Physical Requirements: Ability to demonstrate skills, lead activities, and support student-athlete safety during practices and meets
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Spiritual & Community Representation

Coaching & Instruction
- Develop and implement structured practice plans that teach fundamental track and field skills appropriate for middle school athletes (e.g., sprints, relays, jumps, throws).
- Lead practices with focus on skill development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the sport.
- Teach proper techniques, warm-ups, cool-downs, and basic safety practices for all events.
Team & Culture Leadership
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that reflects Christian values and encourages personal growth.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and respect among athletes.
Competition Preparation
- Organize participation in meets, helping athletes understand rules, procedures, and expectations.
- Support athletes’ mental and physical preparation for meets and competitions.
Communication & Relationship Management
- Communicate regularly and effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, and school staff.
- Provide positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to athletes and families. goals.
Safety, Records & Compliance
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes at practices and competitions.
- Maintain required documentation (e.g., medical consent forms) in coordination with the
Athletic Director. - Follow established emergency and injury response procedures.
Collaboration & Growth
- Collaborate with the Varsity program to align middle school training with foundational track expectations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve coaching skills.
Commitment to 3D Coaching Values
- Participate in Coaching Huddles twice per month.
- Prepare 3D goals and strategies for your athletic program.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach leads and manages the school’s basketball program with a commitment to excellence in athletic, academic, and spiritual development. The coach will foster a Christ-centered team culture, teach sport fundamentals and strategy, and represent Sioux Falls Lutheran School with integrity on and off the court.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Level: BA/BS Education (preferred)
Experience: High school head coaching experience desired.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Eye-hand coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk and sit. Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases. Travel between locations can cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
Other Requirements: Fundamentals of Coaching or Equivalent (must be completed one time); First Aid Health and Safety (renew every 2 years); Concussion in Sports (renew annually); Heat Illness Prevention (renew annually)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- In everything you do and say, represent God, Sioux Falls Lutheran School, and yourself in a Christian manner. Believe in the mission and vision of SFLS and work to help further it.
- Instruct athletes individually or in groups regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organize and execute an effective practice.
- Assign duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
- Determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time, in conjunction with assistant coach(es) at the respective level.
- Monitor student athlete’s academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
- Positively promote the athletic program within the school and community.
- Communicate verbally and electronically with athletes, parents/guardians, and school administration in an effective manner.
- Assist in the selection of assistant coaches.
- Work with the Athletic Director in:
- Ensuring student athletes complete necessary physical examinations and consent forms according to SDHSAA and SFLS guidelines.
- Scheduling practices and competitions
- Arranging for out-of-town trips
- Organizing off season clinics and camps
- Fundraising and merchandising
- Ensure supervision of student athletes on the court, in training/conditioning facilities, and in locker rooms during and following periods of team participation.
- Maintain eligibility forms, medical history forms, consent forms, and other related records.
- Care for athletes and injured athletes.
- Follow procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
- Operate within the policies of the SDHSAA.
- Keep informed on new information and techniques for designated sport and participate in respective clinics.
- Help select representatives for a parent council each athletic season.
- Model Christ-centered leadership on and off the court, represent Sioux Falls Lutheran, and demonstrate how to honor God through sport.

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to serve as part-time workers in our before and after school Eagle Care program. We are especially in need of caregivers who are 18 years and older. Responsibilities include keeping infants- fifth graders safe, happy, and engaged from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to serve as substitute teachers and educational assistants for all age and grade levels (infants through 12th grade).
QUALIFICATIONS:

Sioux Falls Lutheran School is seeking kind, gentle, fun-loving individuals to volunteer as baby rockers in our infant care program. Ideal volunteers will have a natural desire to care for and interact with infants and toddlers. Volunteers will work in partnership with our experienced teachers, who are responsible for daily activity planning. All volunteers must complete a background check and orientation training with our child care director.
