Senior Spotlight: Kiersten Bjordahl
As graduation draws near, we’re sitting down with the class of 2026 to talk about their time at Sioux Falls Lutheran School and what the future holds.

Name: Kiersten Bjordahl
College/University accepted to: Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE)
Intended field of study: Biochemistry and Music
What makes CUNE a good fit for you?
I was looking for a relatively small school with strong programs, and in the end it just came down to which one felt right. CUNE has an excellent music program coupled with passionate and invested science faculty, which were the two programs I had in mind.
Which classes, programs, and/or faculty at SFLS helped support your interest in your planned field of study?
Choir with Mrs. Miller advanced my abilities as a singer both in technical aspects and in working with an ensemble.
Please share any other activities that had a significant impact on you during your time at SFLS.
I had a great experience with the basketball program. It was a distinctly Christian environment that grew me as a person and as a player.
If you could go back and change one thing during your high school career, what would it be?
It’s counterintuitive, but prioritizing taking a break and setting a time to come back to a difficult task later has been the number one strategy that helped with both my productivity and stress when I had a particularly heavy workload. I wish I would have established that habit from the beginning.
What advice would you share with underclassmen at SFLS?
When you evaluate your day, at the end of it, ask, “Who was I a friend to today?” If you can answer that, it’s been a good day.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.” –Job 19:25
