Name: Sam Borg

College/University accepted to: Northwestern College in Iowa

Intended field of study: Exercise Science

What makes Northwestern College a good fit for you?
I will get a lot of opportunities there, and I felt a peace about the people there.

How did you decide on a school/field of study?
I went with what I was interested in and could see day-to-day fulfillment and joy in.

Which classes, programs, and/or faculty at SFLS helped support your interest in your planned field of study?
Anatomy, some English classes, and gym class, as well as Mr. Albers–for being a good role model.

Please share any other activities that had a significant impact on you during your time at SFLS.
All of the sports, but especially basketball! I would say that the orchestra has been a good experience for me to expand my knowledge of music. I really enjoyed the senior trip to get to know everyone in my class a little better.

What is your favorite high school memory?
I really enjoyed this year’s anatomy class and my first dunk in basketball. The catch at Gayville-Volin over two guys was also a favorite.

What are your goals for the future?
I want to start basketball at Northwestern, work a job I love, and start a family.

What advice would you share with underclassmen at SFLS?
Be yourself… whether that’s carrying a cooler around or just enjoying the little things in your day.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
“He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.’” –Matthew 17:20
