Meet Our New Eagle Care Director Reid Nusser
Sioux Falls Lutheran School is pleased to welcome Mrs. Reid Nusser as our Eagle Care director during the 2026-27 school year. After serving as an education assistant in preschool last school year, she began leading our Eagle Care program this summer and looks forward to the school year ahead.
Mrs. Nusser has a background in music education and years of experience working at another local Lutheran school. During her time there, she served in many positions–including childcare assistant director. That role brought her an abundance of valuable experience that will serve her, our staff, and our families well as she leads the Eagle Care program at SFLS.

Tell me a bit about yourself and your family.
I grew up in Yankton, SD, where my parents, sister, brother, and their families all still live. I moved to Sioux Falls in 2015 for college and have been here ever since. Last October, I married my incredible husband, Brooks. We live in central Sioux Falls with our cat Aspen.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have a tendency to stay busy. Outside of Eagle Care, I will be assisting in early childhood and teaching piano lessons. When I’m not at SFLS, I am either thrifting, drinking coffee, singing in choir, or sitting on the board of the Cathedral Sacred Arts Series. At home, I like to cook, make art, watch movies or shows with my husband, or spend time with family and friends.
Tell me about your education. Where did you attend college and what did you study?
I attended a private christian school from preschool through 8th grade. After high school, I moved to Sioux Falls to attend Augustana University. While at Augie, I studied music education with an emphasis in voice. I studied piano and voice privately, as well as sang in choir.
Tell me a bit about your previous work and childcare experience.
After graduating from college, I began working at another local Lutheran school. During my many years there, I filled a variety of positions, one being the childcare assistant director. While in that position, I learned so much about what childcare can look like for children, staff, and families. The most impactful lesson that I learned from that role was that staff and parents are a team, and we need to work together to ensure consistency in each child’s upbringing.
What do you enjoy most about working with early childhood and elementary age children and their families?
My favorite thing about working with young children is being a witness to their “aha” moments, and the joy it brings them. My favorite part of working with families is building trusting relationships that grow alongside their children.
What do you most look forward to about leading Eagle Care staff?
While there are many things about my role that I enjoy, seeing the high school staff members grow into mature, hard working young persons is incredibly rewarding.
