Senior Spotlight: Hayden Schmidt

As graduation draws near, we’re sitting down with the class of 2024 to talk about their time at Sioux Falls Lutheran School and what the future holds.

Name: Hayden Schmidt

College/University accepted to: I have been accepted to Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.  

Intended field of study: I am planning to major in computer science and possibly become a programmer or data analyst.

What makes Wayne State a good fit for you?
Wayne State is a perfect choice for me because of the low cost of tuition, close location, smaller size campus and classes, and the scholarship I was awarded.

How did you feel when you received the news of your acceptance?
I was really happy because they were my first choice.

How did you decide on a school/field of study?  
I woke up one day and wanted to study computer science.

Which classes, programs, and/or faculty at Sioux Falls Lutheran School helped support your interest in your planned field of study/career field?
My capstone class was really helpful in helping me figure out careers that would be good matches for me. 

Please share any other activities that had a significant impact on you during your time at SFLS.
I participated in football and track.

If you could go back and change one thing during your high school career, what would it be?
I wish I had started going to the gym sooner.

What advice would you share with underclassmen at SFLS?
My advice would be to “Be True to Yourself.”
